Chimney questions,
straight answers.

The questions we hear most from homeowners in Central Connecticut, with honest, no-fluff answers. If yours isn't here, call us and ask.

Common warning signs are crumbling mortar joints, spalling or flaking bricks, white efflorescence stains, a leaning crown, rust on the damper or firebox, and any water showing up in the fireplace after a rainstorm. If you're seeing any of those, we'll come out and walk the roof with you for free.
Yes. We come out, inspect the chimney from the roof and the firebox side, and put a written number in your hands the same day. No charge and no obligation.
We work all over Central Connecticut from our West Hartford base, across Hartford, Tolland, Middlesex, New Haven, and Litchfield counties. Fifty-plus towns including Farmington, Simsbury, Glastonbury, Manchester, Avon, Bloomfield, and Wethersfield. Full list on our Service Areas page.
Usually yes. Most chimney leaks come from failing flashing, open mortar joints, a cracked crown, or a missing cap. We isolate the source before we quote. No guesswork and no throwing sealant at the problem.
Most jobs are one to three days depending on scope. A partial repoint and new cap might be a single day. A full restoration with crown rebuild, repointing, flashing, and cap can be two to three days. We give you the timeline in writing with the estimate.
Yes. We carry Connecticut contractor registration, general liability, and workers' compensation on every truck. We're happy to send certificates of insurance over before the work starts if your HOA or lender requires them.
Late spring through fall is ideal because mortar needs consistent temperatures above freezing to cure. We do work into the cold months when weather allows, but we won't start a job we know can't be done properly because of forecast conditions.
Yes. Historic chimneys usually need a softer lime-based mortar mix and hand-matched brick. We slow down on those jobs and do extra photo documentation. If your house is pre-1900, let us know when you call. We handle them differently from day one.
Yes. Every job comes with a written workmanship warranty. If something we installed fails, we come back. Specific warranty terms depend on the scope of the work and we put the details on the invoice.
It depends on the scope. A simple repoint is very different from a full rebuild. That's why the estimate is always free. We'll come out, look at the chimney, and give you a written number the same day so you can make an informed decision.
