Chimney Repointing
Fresh mortar joints
that actually hold.
Old mortar loses its bond, crumbles out, and turns every joint into a tiny gutter feeding water into your chimney. We grind out what's failed, match the color and texture, and pack new mortar in deep, the way it was meant to be done.
How we repoint
Grinders, not hammers. We cut the old joints out to the proper depth (at least twice the joint width) without damaging the brick edges, wet the surface so the new mortar bonds, and pack the joints in two lifts so they cure solid instead of cracking later. Final tooling matches whatever profile your chimney was built with.
Why the mortar mix matters
Pre-1900 brick was soft and needs a soft lime-based mortar. Modern brick wants Type N or Type S depending on exposure. Using the wrong mix cracks the brick faces within a few freeze-thaw cycles. We spec the right mortar for your chimney before we start, not after.
Color matching
A good repointing job should disappear when we're done. We match the color, the texture, and the joint profile so the repair blends with the existing joints instead of announcing itself. The only people who'll notice are your neighbors wondering why your chimney suddenly looks sharp again.
